Your guide to planning a Birmingham conference

A quality conference can act as a catalyst to a career boost. Birmingham is no stranger to conferences, with all manner of industries choosing the innovative city as their home for great conference events. Planning a great corporate event can feel like a gargantuan task – with high-level professionals in attendance the planner has to be on top form to deliver a memorable, engaging program of industry insight. If it feels like the pressure gauge is swinging into the red, and your hands are clawing at your head, relax. We know a thing or two about booking a Birmingham conference, and we're here to guide you through your planning predicament.

Getting the venue

A good conference needs a good venue. A great conference needs a great venue. Getting the choice of event space right is the first big decision you'll need to make. Approach Birmingham's best conference centres with your preferred dates and expected capacity and book your event early to avoid any stress-inducing last-minute panic.

Amenties matter

Conference venues in Birmingham are a great option if you're planning an event that will house several of your colleagues under one roof. These venues offer delegates a huge range of facilities, from conference rooms and audiovisual equipment to on-site restaurants and bars. Consider what your attendees will need (if, for example, you have international guests you may want to host the conference at a hotel near an airport, or investigate the transport links to and from the Birmingham conference venue).

Speech! Speech! Speech!

You can plan the best conference in the world, but if your key speakers aren't providing interesting and entertaining insight, then it will have all been for nothing. Do a good amount of research before – check online recordings of highly-rated conferences to get an idea of the speakers that go down well with delegates. Then, when you're ready, approach your top selection with a watertight proposal and you should stand a good chance of securing the personalities that will impress your delegates.

Sturge 111 Lecture Theatre , Newman University – With seating for up to 180 guests, this lecture theatre is an impressive choice for any upcoming conferences.

There really is no one answer to this question: so many variables come into play when understanding the cost of hiring a conference centre, or a conference room. Conference rooms will be well-appointed so will include facilities, but some things cost extra. It all depends on how many guests are you planning for? Is the venue for the day, an afternoon or an evening? Are you looking for catering? What about decorations? The good news is that you can find a conference venue for pretty much any budget (okay, almost any budget). Instead of letting the venue dictate the price, our advice is to be proactive and set a budget that you feel comfortable with – this way the right venues can reach out to you through HeadBox.

There are lots of ways to book a Birmingham conference centre. You can do the old-fashioned thing and pick up the phone, or email the venue directly. Unfortunately, lots of venues are busy and may not get back to you in time. That's where we come in. Give us your enquiry and we'll reach out to the best conference centres in Birmingham and let you enjoy your free time. Easy.
