1. A Charlotte Street bar to get your wine game on: Vagabond

Charlotte Street, London

If your ideal date night is to be surrounded by hundreds of bottles of wine, we have the place for you.

Vagabond is a new iteration of the tried and tested wine bar; automatic wine dispensing machines respond to your top-up card, gushing out streams of the good stuff at your request. It's a great place to drink absurd amounts of alcoholic grape juice without ever feeling shamed by the judgmental look of a knowing waiter. Machines don't care – they just pour.

Vagabond allows you to taste different wines from around the world. So, no more sitting with a huge glass of wine that you wished you hadn't ordered. If you are looking for a fun and quirky bar for a date or just want to get smashed in the heart of Fitzrovia, look no further than Vagabond Charlotte Street.

2. A fittingly named Charlotte Street bar: The Queen Charlotte

Charlotte Street, London

A BrewDog bar that has mercifully chosen to eschew the normal glass-and-steel look of many of its outposts, Queen Charlotte celebrates in a wooden, cosy style. The outer facade is a stark green, attracting Charlotte Street's drunken hordes into the welcoming arms of an 18th-century boozer that has been dragged kicking and screaming into the present.

And what does the present look like? Well, it means happy hours and lots of them. From 4 pm - 8 pm every day you can get irresponsibly drunk off of 2-4-1 cocktails (we recommend the Margaritas and Porn Star Martinis, this is not a time to hold back).

The Queen Charlotte can also be hired out, offering space for 150 punters, a great place for that pre-party tipple.

3. A bar on Charlotte Street that makes no sense: Mi6 Restaurant & bar

Charlotte Street, London

Why is this Charlotte Street venue called the Mi6 venue? Honestly, we have no idea. The interior is a glorious hodgepodge of lion statues, suits of armour and neoclassical art. There seems no logical connection to the most well-known secret organisation in London, and to be honest, we quite love that fact (after all, wouldn't that be the exact kind of vibe an Mi6 bar would go for?).

The food of drink options are as confusing as the decor. You can start with the Lobster tail before having a main course of a full English, with a side of Yorkshire puddings. Wash it all down with some blue label Jonnie Walker, a glass of Malbec, and a cigar. What is happening? Why is there a cell door leading to a room with a picture frame on a stool?

These are all valid questions, and we can guarantee none of them will be answered. You have to try Mi6 bar.

4. Charlotte Street's best cocktail bar: Bourne and Hollingsworth

Charlotte Street, London

An underground bar that kick-started the Bourne and Hollingsworth group, this Charlotte Street venue is essentially a living room that got really, really into cocktails. Walk up the tight staircase, plonk yourself down on one of the plush red chesterfield sofas and be ready to be bewildered by the strange and wonderful ingredients on the menu. Black barrel whiskey. Islay malt. Mexcal with bitter bianco. Jalapeño syrup. We don't even know what some of those are, but they taste great.

With a DJ starting at 8 pm, an abundance of art deco vibes and enough personality to fill a quarry, Bourne and Hollingsworth have done something right.

5. A sushi fan's dream: Shochu Lounge

If you are a sushi fan (and let's face it, who isn't?) you might want to try the Shochu Lounge on Charlotte Street. Situated inside the ROKA Restaurant , famous for its Japanese Cuisine and tasty cocktails. The restaurant itself serves up Robatoykai, which is a Japanese barbeque, focusing on seafood and vegetables. Honestly we didn't even know that was a thing.

Sochu Lounge is named after Sochu which, just like Sake is a traditional, Japanese liquor. That is, easy to drink. The key ingredient is stirred, shaken and generally mistreated into all manner of modern cocktails.

Sitting on an undeniably comfortable sofa under a huge pink Japanese tree that comes out of the ceiling you will delight and disorientate in equal measure. The draw here is pairing quality Japanese food with well-made cocktails, all in an aesthetically pleasing setting. Not a bad combo.

How to hire a bar near Charlotte Street

We know that finding a venue the old-fashioned way (where you trawl the internet, contact 10 venues or set your heart on one, only to find that they're out of your price range and not even available on your dates) is a pain, and there are a few pitfalls between you and booking your perfect bar. Getting the venue-finding process down to a professional art is what we’ve made our mission ever since we took on the events industry. We often get asked the same questions, so here's what we recommend to quickly and easily hire a space near Charlotte Street.

Frequently asked questions

For bars near Charlotte Street, you're spoilt for choice. Here are a few extra special ones that we vouch for:

Vagabond – For wine lovers looking for a bar for after-work drinks or a casual date, stop by the Charlotte Street branch of Vagabond.

Shochu Lounge – Famous for its Japanese cuisine, stunning decor and of course, cocktails, you can be sure that this bar has drinks that taste as good as they look.

There really is no one answer to this question: so many variables come into play when understanding the cost of exclusive hire of a bar or a private space in a bar. How many guests are you planning for? Is the venue for the day, an afternoon, or the night? The good news is that you can find a venue for pretty much any budget (okay, almost any budget). Instead of letting the venue dictate the price, our advice is to be proactive and set a budget that you feel comfortable with – this way the right venues can reach out to you through HeadBox.

There are lots of ways to book a Charlotte Street bar. You can do the old-fashioned thing and pick up the phone, or email the venue directly. Unfortunately, lots of venues are busy and may not get back to you in time. That's where we come in. Give us your enquiry and we'll reach out to the best bars near Charlotte Street and let you enjoy your free time. Easy.
