Arguably one of the swishest places we’ve ever been, the renowned Library Bar at The Lanesborough Hotel in Hyde Park Corner is a time capsule of the Regency era. An experience decorated with plush decor, and cocktails prepared by a team of award-winning mixologists.

The Library Bar has a collection of cognacs dating back to the 1770s, and the atmosphere and ambiance of a private club. This is a special occasion kind of cocktail bar, a black suit and tie-wearing cocktail bar – reservations are a must. There are cocktail bars and then there is The Library Bar, a casual spot it is not, but an experience it is.

The Back Bar at the Scottish restaurant Boisdale of Belgravia is a snug bar located on the ground floor of the mews cottage behind the restaurant. It offers private hire for up to 26 guests for a sit-down dinner with traditional Scottish fare such as haggis, neeps, and tatties.

A Scottish bar is nothing without the scotch and The Back Bar is in no short supply. What pairs well with scotch? Cigars. The Back Bar sells the Cuban variety which you can enjoy on its cigar terrace. As if we didn’t have ample reason to love this Belgravia bar, there’s a nightly offering of live jazz, blues, and soul. We’ll never go home again.

A grenadier was a soldier armed with grenades – strong imagery for a traditional pub by this name. Grenadier in Belgrave Square was a former officers’s mess and has taken the meaning of its name into its decor. In keeping with its historical roots, the pub is known to be haunted by Cedric, a soldier who was caught cheating at cards and then beaten to death.

Today, this Belgravia bar is known for its unique pewter bar, Cedric the Ghost, and its ceiling covered in notes of all different types of currency, pinned there by patrons who try to appease the ghost of Cedric by paying off his debt. Grenadier is also known for its gastropub menu and Sunday Roasts, especially its Beef Wellington. We went for the ghost, and stayed for the ale and the Roast.

Located in the upscale Como boutique hotel near Hyde Park Corner station, The Halkin Bar is a contemporary bar & restaurant that offers traditional favourites, yet it also features Balinese flavours and spices with its COMO Shambhala Cuisine, presented in a modern, chic, and elegant manner that matches its interior design and decor.

It’s the kind of place where you enjoy pre-dinner aperitifs and post-dinner cognacs. We like The Halkin Bar for striking the right balance between sophisticated and relaxed. Minimalist decor, pretty plates, and strong cocktails.

Today, The Star Tavern is a picturesque traditional pub on a cobblestone street with leather sofas, bookcases, and elegant chandeliers inside. In the 1950s and 1960s, the pub was frequented by London’s criminal masterminds and celebrities alike. It was within these walls that most of the planning took place for the Great Train Robbery, then the century’s biggest heist.

If any heists are being planned at The Star Tavern these days, we don’t know about it, but we can vouch for the homely comfort of the place, the refined and seasonal pub menu, and cold pints. It’s one for Instagram, it’s one for heist lovers, and it’s one for those who like cosy pubs. Lastly, it’s one for private hire, the pub has several gorgeous function rooms ideal for any type of occasion.

Named after 19th century Master Architect Thomas Cubitt who was responsible for designing iconic buildings in London’s West End neighbourhood and squares. Whether dining outside on a sunny day or taking cocktails at the bar, we love The Thomas Cubitt for its atmosphere, highly-rated seasonal menu, and dedication to warm hospitality.

With a number of private rooms available including the Drawing Room and the Atrium, you and your guests will feel absolutey looked ater within this iconic and cherished Belgravia establishment.

The Alred Tennyson is a lovely little pub tucked away on a quiet Belgravia street. Set over four floors, the pub takes its name from the local Poet Laureate, and despite its Belgravia postcode, it has become the casual neighbourhood local for many. It’s the kind of pub to spend an afternoon in.

Outdoor seating, quality cocktails, cold pints, and a seasonal British menu dishing up elevated versions of traditional fare. Pop in for a drink, a coffee, or a Sunday Roast. Hire out one of its private dining rooms for a special occasions. Or just spend an afternoon reading quietly whilst sipping a negroni – we recommend Tennyson’s poetry, of course, but really anything you enjoy will do.

The Bookshelves is a space that can accommodate 50 standing, and the Private Dining Room accommodates 50 seated or 80 standing.

The Horse and Groom – traditional and as pretty as they come. The pub is located in a picturesque cobbled mews off Belgrave Square, minutes away from the hustle and bustle of Hyde Park Corner, Knightsbridge, and Victoria.

Traditional wood panelling, etched glass, and the photogenic mews location provides an ideal background for your Instagram. Hearty pub food (they do a mean beef brisket sandwich), pints, and ales complete the package. It’s classy, traditional, and pretty – one for the photographers and admirers of traditional British pubs.

Tucked away behind Sloane Square and the Kings Road, you won’t find this corner bar on Instagram, it doesn’t shout from the rooftops about its Sunday Roast – in fact, the former working mans pub originally operated as ales only and was the last London pub to operate as such until in 1996 when a spirit license was at long last acquired.

The Fox and Hounds is a snug and cosy 19th century pub concerned only with providing quality drinks to its patrons and regulars. No rotating menu or 2-4-1 deals here, just a fireplace, ale, beer, and spirits. It’s down to earth, the kind of pub you find locals – a respite from the intensity of Belgravia and the rest of London for that matter.
